Steve Carlton
What is worse the execution of Major League Baseball team?

I know what fans of other cities is the worst team in the running Major League Baseball. For me it is the Phillies. I endured more than "Triple A" franchise since 1971. I am thanks to Steve Carlton, Larry Bowa, Garry Maddox, Bill Robinson, and Dallas Green for his success in 1980. But I doubt that there are few teams in baseball that can fight for the title of Most cluelessly operated. Stubborn and stupid come to mind. They have their new stadium is not very nice for his own pitching staff, have tons of revenue from now, and will launch a clone of Ed Wade. The manager is a novice and often refused to sign Scrubs. Its pathetic stunt is only surpassed by the basketball team that plays a few blocks down Pattison Avenue. I honestly believe that the wrong team left town in 1954. By the way, Schmidt could not stand, though I confess it was the greatest third basemen in the 3 team history. I love your comments.

It is a difficult question. Since I am not aware of GM or owner of each team. I would say the Cubs have a mismanaged organization (as owner of the Tribune, and who seem more concerned with making a profit at the expense of presenting a decent team). Moreover, the surface, it appears that the Royals were rather poor, and have been for several years. If your team wanted to improve the team, which could improve their system exploitation. team had a good turn around (and assume that I'm here) is my beloved Tigers. David Dombrowski has been genetically modified for 4 years and it has sown of our minor league teams with great talent, which begins to bear fruit (Justin Verlander, Joel Zumaya, Marcus Thames, etc.).

Larry Carlton/Steve Lukather - No Substitutions: Live In Osaka

Larry Carlton/Steve Lukather – No Substitutions: Live In Osaka

$10.98

Personnel: Larry Carlton, Steve Lukather (guitar); Rick Jackson (keyboards); Chris Kent (bass); Gregg Bissonette (drums).Recorded live at Blue Note, Osaka, Japan in November 1998. Includes liner notes by Steve Lukather, Larry Carlton, and Matt Resnicoff.NO SUBSTITUTIONS: LIVE IN OSAKA won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album.Personnel: Larry Carlton (guitar); Steve Lukather (guitar); Yoshiyasu Kumada (recorder); Rick Jackson (keyboards); Gregg Bissonette (drums).Audio Mixers: Neil Citron; Steve Vai.Recording information: Blue Note Osaka (11/1998).Editors: Neil Citron; Steve Vai.Illustrator: Gina Zangla.Photographers: Robert Knight ; Ken Blaustein.Lighting-fast phrases, spectacular solos, and soothing statements abound in this first ever "live" collaboration by two guitar icons. Larry Carlton on the left side and Steve Lukather on the right side are astounding on No Substitutions: Live in Osaka. This was the first recorded onstage collaboration of the guitarists, even though they had met nearly 25 years before performing in a club environment, and their first-take energy comes through loud and clear. Joined by drummer Gregg Bissonette, keyboardist Rick Jackson, and bassist Chris Kent, the award-winning guitarists perform a no-holds-barred set on five extended tunes that range from a 14-minute version of Jeff Beck`s "The Pump" to the legendary Miles Davis tune "All Blues" and Carlton`s signature piece, "Room 335." The tremendous interaction between Carlton and Lukather works extremely well on "All Blues," their frets working together in melodic harmony while displaying their original musical personalities. Amplified rock licks bring this song to another level that is devoid of any riffs in vogue on the jazz scene. However, Carlton and Lukather do remain true to the song`s original series of five scales, and each solos until they`ve completed the series. This is one awesome blowing date and is highly recommended for all true rock and fusion fans whether you were there or not. ~ Paula EdelsteinOne of the more underrated guitarists in rock is Steve Lukather. Best known for his work with Toto, Lukather is a highly sought-after session player, having played on countless albums by other artists, and has no problem adapting his playing to a wide variety of different styles. Lukather also finds the time to sporadically issue his own solo albums, and in 2003, he issued a live collaboration with fellow session guitarist Larry Carlton, No Substitutions: Live in Osaka. As expected, plenty of guitar showcases for each player are provided, especially on a pair of over-14-minute tracks — "The Pump" and "All Blues" — as well as an album-closing rendition of the Carlton classic "Room 335." Not exactly a groundbreaking jazz-rock guitar release, but fans of each guitarist should enjoy hearing each show their stuff on-stage. ~ Greg Prato Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. F

Larry Carlton - Sleepwalk

Larry Carlton – Sleepwalk

$14.23

Personnel: Larry Carlton (guitar); Michael Brecker (saxophone, horns); David Sanborn (saxophone); Greg Mathieson (piano, Fender Rhodes piano, organ, keyboards); Don Freeman (Fender Rhodes piano, Wurlitzer organ, keyboards); Terry Trotter (Fender Rhodes piano, keyboards); Brian Mann (keyboards, synthesizer, Moog synthesizer); Joe Sample (keyboards); Jeff Porcaro, John Ferraro , Steve Gadd (drums); Paulinho Da Costa (percussion).Audio Remasterer: Bernie Grundman.Audio Remixers: Larry Carlton; Rik Pekkonen.Recording information: 1981.Photographer: Bob Seidemann.Sleepwalk is slightly better than Strikes Twice thanks in part to the absence of Larry Carlton`s toneless singing. "Last Nite" and "10:00 P.M." have become staples in Carlton`s live set. The legendary Carlton feel is evident throughout this session, but "Blues Bird" stands as the high-water mark. "Sleepwalk" is played beautifully, almost preventing the listener from noticing the sap-heavy strings in the background. Carlton`s faceless rhythm section does little to enhance the music (as is usually the case with his solo efforts), but his playing more than makes up for this. Despite sounding a bit dated, this is still worth exploring, especially for guitarists. ~ Robert Taylor Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. All rights reserved.

Larry Carlton - Firewire *

Larry Carlton – Firewire *

$7.98

Although guitarist Larry Carlton is known primarily as a smooth-jazz performer, both solo and with Fourplay, his roots are in session work with pop/rock artists, most notably Steely Dan and Joni Mitchell. On 2006`s FIREWIRE, Carlton gets back to his rock beginnings, offering up a set of tunes that focus on the energetic side of his playing. Aiding Carlton in this musical about-face is producer Csaba Petocz, who has been in the studio with acts such as Elvis Costello and Metallica, and here leads the six-stringer in a bold, assertive direction. Also joined by prolific drummer Matt Chamberlain and other top-tier musicians, Carlton leans into the shuffling "Inkblot 11," indulges in Jimi Hendrix-like riffing on "Naked Truth," and sinks into a deep blues groove with "Surrender." More in line with albums by Joe Satriani and Steve Vai than anything in the easy-listening vein, FIRE WIRE highlights the adventurous aspects of this expert guitarist. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. It`s Carlton`s first blues-oriented album in many years. Featuring a large band with a complete horn section, Reese Wynans on B-3, Matt Rollings on Rhodes piano, Terry McMillan on piano, and others, Carlton is in fine, even understated form here. This group plays like a band with a soloist at its center, not like a bunch of paid hacks backing up a guitar whiz. Witness the gorgeous horn charts by Jim Horn on "Friday Night Shuffle," and the triple melody line in "A Pair of Kings." The laid-back, jazzy blues feel of "Night Sweats," with a memorable groove and minimal horn punctuations, leaves Carlton`s guitar room to jam inside a warm space. The title track is a B.B. King-style groover — \u0005 la 1970 — with a stinging, slightly distorted guitar sound from Carlton. This isn`t the blues, it is blues, played soulfully and with considerable musicianship that forgoes flash for feeling, albeit muted by pristine production. Carlton`s fans may puzzle over this one a bit because of its concentration on aesthetic beauty and relative purity, but those who weren`t paying attention should sit up and take notice. Larry Carlton - Fingerprints

Larry Carlton – Fingerprints

$9.98

Personnel: Larry Carlton (guitar, programming); Michael McDonald (vocals); Kirk Whalum, Steve Cole (saxophone); Jerry Hey, Gary Grant, Larry Williams (horns); Sam Riney (flute); David Woods, Michael Egizi (keyboards, drums); Josh Henson (keyboards, programming); Matt Rollings, Rick Jackson (keyboards); Vince Gill (guitar); Abraham Laboriel (bass); Vinnie Colaiuta (drums); Eric Darken, Lenny Castro, Luis Conte (percussion).Engineers: Paul Brown, Dave Rideau, Don Murray. After a period of recording with Fourplay in the late `90s, Larry Carlton comes back under his own name with a collection that is typically both tantalizing and frustrating. It`s tantalizing in that you get flashes and streaks of what this extremely gifted and eloquent guitarist can do when the material is good enough to inspire him. It`s frustrating, however, because there isn`t enough of it; Carlton can only do so much with the weak-to-middling tunes that take up the majority of the disc. Nevertheless, the title cut is a fine example of the smooth jazz genre at its most ingratiating, with a nice groove and tasty guitar work. "Slave Song" is even better, spangled with intriguing instrumental touches (including the multitracked saxes of Kirk Whalum); some great, funky octave work right in the pocket; and most unusually in the smooth jazz arena, a passionate instrumental chorus on the way to the fade. "Gracias," a Latin-flavored acoustic-guitar duet between Carlton and country music`s Vince Gill, may be the album`s masterpiece; together, the two create the disc`s most beautiful tunes and licks, evoking memories of Chet Atkins` best celebrity duo sessions. Too often, though, the disc settles for the mediocre and the innocuous, the most obvious example being "`Til I Hurt You," an undistinguished tune carefully tooled for airplay, featuring the indecipherably mumbled vocals of Michael McDonald. Yet Fingerprints` best stuff, in addition to Carlton`s sterling efforts to make the rest come alive, redeems the package. ~ Richard S. Ginell Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only.
